John Verdieck
John Verdieck serves as the Chair of the ART Advisory Board. He is the Director of International Climate Policy at The Nature Conservancy. In this role he works to improve policy coherence between international climate change rulesets and national-level action in the land sector, including supporting TNC country teams to implement current and future programs that align with international standards and best practices. John formerly worked at the U.S. State Department where he negotiated UNFCCC workstreams related to REDD+, carbon markets, and the Paris Agreement’s rulesets for Nationally Determined Contributions. As part of his roles at both TNC and the U.S. State Department, which are both Financial Contributors to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility, John helped design the program’s Methodological Framework and build the overall program. He also helped launch and design the Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes, another jurisdictional fund focused on forests and land use. John holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of California, San Diego.
