Brenda Zerecero Salazar
Manager, Technical Team
As Manager, Technical Team, Brenda is responsible for supporting all aspects of the implementation of ART’s processes and TREES. She provides technical expertise and support for jurisdictional GHG accounting and REDD+ program assessment and supports the review of jurisdictional TREES Document submissions relating to forest carbon estimation, crediting level development, monitoring systems, and the quantification of emission reductions and removals.
Prior to joining ART, Brenda worked on a variety of research projects which focused on: climate change vulnerabilities the Centro-Golfo region using physical and social variables; forest growth curves using the National Forest Inventory and field data; dynamics within high-deforestation-risk areas; carbon budgeting in La Sierra del Tigre, Jalisco; and deforestation mapping utilizing wall-to-wall methods and map uncertainties. In addition to her research work, Brenda worked on carbon accounting projects, estimating deforestation and degradation in forests from Jalisco using Tier 2 methods. She also collaborated as a government consultant to help calculate emissions reductions and Monte Carlo approach.
Brenda holds a master´s degree in Forest Sciences from COLPOS, Estado de México, where she focused on climate change dynamics in forests and vulnerable zones in a portion of Veracruz. She obtained her PhD in Biosystematics, Ecology, Natural Resources Management and Agricultural (BEMARENA) from the Universidad de Guadalajara, where she performed map analysis and carbon accounting in forest regions.
